Intersection of a real (111) twin boundary, containing twin-boundary dislocations, by isolated lattice dislocations in fee crystals is considered. Dislocation reactions on such a boundary permit such intersection to occur without the formation of orientation-misfit dislocations. The critical stress for the intersection of a twin boundary by external dislocations is essentially determined by the dislocation structure of the boundary itself.
