N2 - A new method is proposed for calculating the volume-surface diameter of ceramic and refractory materials using an artificial neuron network. The method differs from the earlier known ones, as it takes into account the real function of particle distribution over fractions. This allows for a more precise account of the dependence of the volume-surface diameter on the production technology and helps to improve the quality of material.
