An analysis of conditions is given for the generation of crystons (superdislocation-type carriers of shear) in deformation bands with (hhl) boundaries by generalized Frank-Read sources whose operative segments form a superlattice. It is shown that the type of the σ-ε curves for Ni3Fe single crystals deformed by compression along the [001] direction (ε = 9-47%) can be related to the conditions for the generation of crystons. In a quantitative comparison with experiment, the anisotropy of the shear modulus is taken into account.
