A problem of electric and magnetic combination of a salient-pole synchronous motor of general industrial use with an exciter in a brushless system of excitation is considered. It is shown that a combination of a salient-pole synchronous motor with an inductor exciter is most expedient. The power of the combined inductor exciter is determined on the basis of an investigation of electromagnetic field of a synchronous compressor motor. The expression for calculating the power of an exciter is obtained. An estimation of the possibility of application of a brushless system of excitation for salient-pole synchronous motors with combined inductor exciter is presented.
