The purpose of the research was theoretical development and experimental substantiation of the free style technique teaching methods. The research object - the process of technical training of racing skiers. The research subject - method of teaching free style technique to racing skiers on the stage of initial training. The conducted study resulted in the following conclusions: Analysis of videorecords of free style movement of children and the trainers' personal experience of sports activity promoted allocation of 13 problem elements in mastering the free style technique. There were created special lead-up exercises for each of the 13 allocated problem elements to teach free style technique and there were formed the basic control points. The conducted experiment revealed that the technique of teaching using the worked exercises based on constructively- extended method is more effective in teaching free style to skiers compared to teaching with the use of the integral-constructive method. Practical recommendations: In individual work it is not necessary to use all the subjected exercises. Depending on the difficulty of mastering technical elements it is possible to use various combinations of exercises. To maintain the children's interest in mastering free style exercise sets are to be designed (5-6 exercises of different directions) and alternated.
