The article presents the results of a study conducted in May 2021 on the use of digital technologies by schoolchildren in grades 8-11 in Perm Krai (sample N 912). In the scientific literature, the question of what impact digital technologies have on the academic performance of students at different levels remains debatable. In accordance with this, the aim of the study was to analyze the impact of the use of digital technologies by older adolescents on the success of their educational activities. The study showed that the majority of older teenagers spend more than 3 hours daily on the Internet, while only a fifth of the respondents spend more than two hours a day on the Internet preparing for schoolwork. The results of the study revealed a high level of self-assessment by adolescents of their level of skills in working with digital technologies and digital content, including in comparison with their parents and students. The vast majority of students in grades 8-11 believe that their computer and Internet skills help them in their studies, especially in self-preparation for classes (Educational Olympiads, General (OGE) and Unified (EGE) State Examinations). Schoolchildren's assessments of the impact of the use of digital technologies on learning activities depend on the class of study, the status of the school, the duration of their daily activity on the Internet, the presence of digital devices in their personal use, their skills in working with digital technologies, and academic performance. The positive impact of working with digital technologies is more recognized by high school students, students of urban and status schools, as well as by students who have a better access to digital technologies (personal digital devices) and a higher level of skills in working with them.
