The V. N. Tarasov's article “Sayan-Shushenskaya failure mechanisms. Facts and explanations." is discussed. The explanations of the turbine set destroying expressed by V. N. Tarasov are given. Then it is shown the results didn't completely allow for the fact of the turbine cover pins dynamic stress fatigue. The luck of proper collar gripping is remained to may have resulted in apparent increasing of dynamic stress in the pins under design pressure in the turbine case and consequent fatigue failure during long-term service. The explanation of the turbine set destroying under the long-term effect of elevated vibration is critically analyzed.
