N2 - A procedure is proposed for optimising the rolling schedule for channel No. 12 on a 600 mill consisting of three three-high stands and a two-high finishing stand. A computer program was used to determine the actual pressure and force load on the mill equipment and to establish the reserves for intensifying the rolling schedule. Computer simulation made it possible to determine the optimum pass overlapping schedule and to increase mill throughput. Schedules for rolling sections and shapes on any linear mill can be optimised by the procedure described.
