The form of utopian narrative was used by F. Bacon in «New Atlantis», M. Cavendish in «The Blazing World», and J. Glanvill in «The Summe of My Lord Bacon's New Atlantis» to construct modern heuristic practices. These works are united not only by their utopian and travelographic form, but also by their functional purpose. All of them were published as supplements to philosophical treatises and served as a tool for the «poetic» presentation of philosophical concepts. Such writings serve as a characteristic example of the poetic interpretation of philosophical concepts in 17th-century England, and can be seen as models that contribute to the consolidation of the epistemological and institutional boundaries of the emerging «scientific» communities.
