The importance of the stated problem is associated with the implementation of the network model of educational activity in the system of secondary general education in small towns of the Far North. The aim of the article is to reveal the features of the network interaction development in the system of secondary general education in a small northern city (on the example of the city of Urai). The study was conducted in February-April 2020 in Urai. The methodology was built on the analysis of regulatory documents. They ensure the network interaction in the system of secondary general education at the federal, regional and municipal levels. The authors conducted an expert survey of representatives of educational management and an online survey of teachers in the city (quota sample, N = 234). Based on empirical data, the article examines the basic principles, possibilities and limitations of the implementation of network interaction as one of the priority areas of educational policy. In the study, "networking" is divided into several components according to the criterion "means of implementation" or "resources". The authors describe electronic educational resources, such as remote technologies, material, technical and human resources of partner organizations. According to teachers' assessments, the first two types of resources can be actively used in the practice of network exchanges. The use of exchanges of human and material resources is limited. Moreover, they are necessary for career guidance; work with gifted children; individualization of education; implementation of subject-to-subject connections and inclusive education. According to the experts, the most promising development of network interaction is the "school -organization of additional education."
