Objective of the study was to substantiation of the conversion of sports training technology into the process of orientation of children of senior preschool age to hockey. Methods and structure of the study. The article discusses the introduction of sports training technology in the process of orienting children aged 5-7 years to hockey, which ensures the effectiveness of the selection process for physical education and sports organizations at the initial stage. During the study, environmental, systemic and personal-activity approaches were used; theoretical analysis, regulatory legal documents. When enrolling in a hockey school for the initial training stage, children 8 years old must have a sufficient level of general and special physical fitness, so there is a need to convert sports training technology into the process of orienting children 5-7 years old to hockey. Results and conclusions. Conversion is defined as the introduction and adaptation of methods and means of sports training technology into the process of orientation to hockey classes. Conversion is carried out in the sports and gaming environment of additional education organizations. The creation of a sports and gaming environment is determined by: the variety of equipment; organizing activities that include play exercises; measures to monitor the level of general and special physical and technical readiness; organization of tournaments held according to simplified rules among teams with a comparable level of preparedness. A special place in the process of sports orientation for children of senior preschool age is occupied by the author’s developed program for introducing them to hockey.
