Objective: To identify possible interrelationships between the development of basic groups of universal competences in civil engineering students.Methods: analysis of psychological and pedagogical research; mathematical and statistical techniques.Results: The interconnectedness of development between the basic groups of universal competences is manifested as follows: the group of universal competences "Relationship Management", related to the socio-communicative development of the personality, determines the development of the group of universal competences "Task Management", related to the project-activity development of the personality, and the group of universal competences "Self-organization and Self-management", related to the motivational and volitional side of the student's personality development; the group of universal competences "Management of the Student's personality", related to the motivational and volitional side of the student's personality development; the group of universal competences "Self-organization and Self-management", related to the motivational and volitional side of the student's personality development.Conclusions: In their work, a teacher of higher education should rely on the fact that the identified basic groups of universal competences have an interrelated character of development.
