Despite the fact that the number of nonprofit organizations is increasing annually, the level of trust in many of them among citizens is still low. The article presents a study of this issue in terms of attitudes towards NPOs among different groups of young people in the Sverdlovsk Region, and also establishes that there is a statistically significant weak-moderate link between young people's trust in NPOs and their willingness to get involved in volunteer processes. The main reasons for the low level of trust are insufficient awareness of NPO activities, negative experiences, and reputational risks of unscrupulous third sector actors, which together cause mixed feelings among youth groups and a lack of desire to get involved in various socially useful processes. in addition, a comparison of the level of trust in NPOs and the level of trust in volunteer movements, which are often based on them, reveals a significant gap as volunteer movements enjoy greater trust among young people.
