The article considers the image of the “former autobiographical hero” in Huxley’s later novels “the Swan dies After many years” and “the Island” as a result of transformation of the image of the “autobiographical hero” passing through all Huxley’s early works and retrospective critical refl ection in relation to him. If the “autobiographical hero” passing through the absolute majority of Huxley’s novels of the 1920s - mid-1930s, is a kind of “synchronous” artistic projection of the author’s personality and writer’s worldview (especially considering his position of “absolute doubt”), that “ex-autobiographical hero” can be seen as a retrospective projection of Huxley’s “self-image” . This image comprises the critical refl ection of the late Huxley who formulated his “positive program “in relation to his former position of “absolute doubt”. Accordingly, the” former autobiographical hero “ in Huxley’s later novels appears as the bearer of an epistemologically and morally fl awed position. Special attention is paid to the cultural Foundation on which the “former autobiographical heroes” in Huxley’s later novels rely, their dialogue with the cultural sources of the past.
