The paper presents a methodical approach to building a model of competencies of engineers, aimed at identifying the current needs of higher education. The article discloses an algorithm of formation based on the integrated detection of problem areas. The advantage of the approach is the possibility to implement in the process of engineers reproduction feedback elements, to identify the needs of all stakeholders and to ensure a better use of labor resources, their knowledge and skills in a real economy.
