The article analyzes the foreign and local methods of assessment of project risks, identify the advantages and disadvantages of the use of certain traditional practices. The authors explore the possibility of upgrading strategies for responding to the risks that are used to American standards (Strategies for responding to negative risks (threats), response strategies for positive risks (opportunities) General strategy for responding to the risks, strategies to respond to unforeseen circumstances), also examined the possibilities and examples of adaptation in contemporary Russian conditions.
