The problem of the possibility of using an environmental approach in the prevention of student delinquency is insufficiently studied in pedagogical theory and practice. The purpose of the study is devoted to the theoretical substantiation of the possibility of using the in the prevention of delinquency among students in the educational environment of the university. Research problem include: 1) clarification of the concept of «educational environment of the university», definition of its structure, main properties and characteristics; 2) consider the use of the environment approach and its forms in the prevention of offenses among university students. The article focuses on the existing resources of the educational environment. Research result: the definition of the concept of «educational environment of the university» has been proposed, the structure, main properties and characteristics of the educational environment in prevention are presented. The forms of the media approach have been allocated: environmental approach as a principle of pedagogical research; promoting the implementation of measures in the field of crime prevention among students; environmental approach as one of the approaches of the system of management of education in the university; Environmental approach as a preventive mechanism. Mechanisms for the prevention of offences in the educational environment are defined: regulatory, organizational and managerial, educational, socio-psychological, moral and ethical, and allocated their content and direction in the management of the university.
