Intrapersonal conflicts are considered by modern science both as a driving force in personality development and as a source of psychological health disorders. There is an opinion that the profession of a psychologist is chosen by people with serious psychological difficulties, and in order to solve these difficulties, they master the means of professional activity. However, this has not been unequivocally confirmed by reliable scientific data. The article presents the results of a study of the relationship of interests within the psychological profession and intrapersonal conflicts of students of the Department of Psychology. The total sample consisted of 153 people. The main hypothesis was the assumption that there is a relationship between professional inclinations and parameters of internal conflict. The purpose of the study is to clarify the nature of this relationship, which contributes to the clarification of the mechanisms of intrapersonal conflicts in students. The diagnostic complex of E.B. Fantalova. The intrapersonal conflict is considered by the author of the methodology as a contradiction between the importance and accessibility of internal values. The result of the study was the identification of significant correlations between various parameters of internal conflicts, on the one hand, and the choice of areas of specialization, competencies and personal characteristics of future psychologists, on the other. The study showed that the high intensity of the value of "materially secure life" among students with an interest in educational psychology is associated with their closeness to new experience. Students who are oriented towards pedagogical psychology really avoid resolving the conflict over material values, not seeing unexpected options and preferring to work according to the knurled technology. Students interested in conflictology are stress-resistant. and are not consensual. In turn, the stronger the interest in conflictology, the less internal contradictions in the value of "Health". A student who chooses conflictology as his specialization has a clear position regarding psychological health, it is easier to refuse conciliation and feels stable in stressful situations. Interest in the work of a personnel psychologist is more often manifested by students with a high tension of values in a situation of free choice. This focus is associated with an interest in sports psychology and conflictology as similar in content specializations. The direction "Psychotherapy" is more often chosen by students with the intensity of the "Creativity" value and the absence of internal conflict in the sphere of friendly relations. Interest in psychotherapy is not associated with the competencies "practicality" and "realism", as well as with none of the professionally important qualities offered in the "Psychologist" test. Interest in research work is shown by students with a lesser degree of internal conflict in a situation of free choice of values. Scientific orientation is facilitated by the absence of tension on the value of "Having good and true friends" and the high inconsistency in the value of "Love". Clinical psychology is the only direction that is not associated with a general interest and inclination for the psychological profession and forms only inverse relationships with other areas. Despite the fact that most of the sample consisted of students of this particular specialization, it seems that their ideas about this direction are very blurred. The choice of direction tends to be made by students with mildly expressed internal conflicts, as well as those who have difficulty with openness to new things. In general, the general inclination towards the profession of a psychologist is not related to the strength of students' internal conflicts. There are both direct and inverse correlations between the intensity of individual values and different characteristics of inclination to the psychological profession. The specificity of contradictions in a number of values clarifies the features of the motivational mechanisms of professional self-determination, the knowledge of which allows you to adjust the process of training future specialists and develop practical recommendations for a constructive way out of conflicts for students.
