During the last decade security as an object of scientific interest has got a special urgency. Danger and risk of our everyday life have become distinctive features of social reality together with consumerism, globalization, informatization, mass culture, etc. But the priority ones are still military and political (diplomatic/state/geopolitical) ways of scientific searching, and also pedagogical approach with the outcomes as studying courses of “Health and wellness”. This tendency demonstrates the necessity of searching of alternative approach to security, which can broaden understanding of the phenomenon without focusing on security (defence) of an object. This paper describes the experience of comparative linguistics methods ' application for exposing the essence of security phenomenon in the frames of socio-cultural approach. It describes objective and subjective accents in understanding of this phenomenon in fifty most widely spoken languages of the world. The article provides the research analytic data connected with semantic field of the lexeme “security” in some languages. This approach allows broadening barriers of scientific searching in the sphere of security provided by semantic features of the lexeme “security” in different languages and hence in different socio-cultural contexts.
