The article deals with the problem of delimitation between artistic and religious discourses, questions of relations between the prayer discourse and the genre of prayer. Involving a number of bibliographic sources, a theoretical model of the poetic prayer genre is described. Particular attention is paid to the evolution of the genre; as the result of it, the prayer-arrangements gave way to individual author’s varieties of prayer («My Prayer», «metamolitva» as «meta-prayer»).
