FIELD: technological processes. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of oriented crystals of layered hydroxy salts based on gadolinium, which can be used in production of catalysts, adsorbents and anion-exchange materials, as well as for formation of functional coatings when creating different heterostructures and devices for conversion of electromagnetic radiation, sensors and multicolour light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Method of producing oriented crystals of layered gadolinium hydroxonitrate involves the following steps: obtaining a solution of gadolinium nitrate; contacting said solution of gadolinium nitrate solution and ammonia solution such that during precipitation the pH of the reaction mixture remains constant and its value is in range of 7–9 pH units with concentration of gadolinium in nitrate solution in range of 0.05 to 1 mol/l; separation of formed solid phase from mother solution; drying the residue. EFFECT: invention enables to obtain oriented crystals of layered gadolinium hydroxonitrate, having high homogeneity, while reducing power consumption and number of steps of the synthesis process.
