The author analyzes the manipulation as a kind of influence and its special characteristics applying to the marital relations. It is obvious, that the scientific representation of the issue is ambivalent: manipulation could be considered both - a type of destroying force and partnership-building factor. The study is based on the empirical investigation on the ‘young’ and ‘mature’ couples satisfied with their marriage. The manipulative techniques are marked out, as well as mind games were identified which are often used by husbands and wives.
