It is shown that the final meltdown of solid phase in a binary system near the liquidus may be very slow depending on initial distribution of the solid phase particles. The meltdown may be described as a nonlinear quasi - chemical process, which demonstrates oscillations and long - living large scale inhomogeneities. © 2023 Author(s).
