Current distribution at the cathode is studied in the process of Sc-Al alloy preparation by fused salt electrolysis. Combination of the full-scale tests and mathematical modelling is the most rational approach to solving this problem. This makes it possible to establish the critical values of the current and geometrical parameters of electrolyzer, when local deposition of Sc-Al intermetallic dendrites on the edges of graphite bottom occurs.
