N2 - In the paper, the BFGS algorithm is applied to minimization of the functional in the problem of approximating the gravity anomalies by the fields of material segments and the fields of point sources. The selected fields were compared at different heights. Efficiency of the algorithm is demonstrated on model examples. Fields from the three-dimensional sources were selected as selected ones.
