Influence of borate ore additions on metallurgical processes has been investigated. Results of the investigations have shown that decrease in the melting temperature of slag in blast furnace is observed. Decrease in viscosity of the slag is also noted. However, the binding properties of borate ore are absent. In connection with this, mixture of borate ore and bentonite is utilized during manufacturing the pellets. Chemical compositions of the pellets have been presented. Removal of sulfur from the pellets is provided. Strength of the fired pellets is improved. Optimal content of borate ore in the pellets has been determined.
