The article describes the problems of using a typical frequency converter with controlled rectifier and parallel current inverter for melting metal in an induction crucible furnace. The study shows graphs of iron melting process in a furnace with a capacity of 3 tons obtained during the experiment. Two methods of dual-frequency power supply of induction crucible furnaces are proposed, allow expanding the technological capabilities of induction melting of metals and carry out intensive mixing of the metal at the stage of technological processing and overheating of the metal, which ensures a reduction in the preparation time of the alloys and an increase in the productivity of the furnace.
