A reflector illuminated by a small array is an attractive antenna configuration for communication systems requiring reconfigurable contoured beams. The approach to synthesis of hybrid reflector antenna (HRA) with contour beams is considered. The high quality contour beams are provided by amplitude-phase control of the feeding array (FA) and phase-only control of the feeding array too. The effective iterative methods of amplitude-phase and phase synthesis of amplitude patterns for the multi-beam scanning hybrid antenna are submitted. The problem of contour beams creation can be solved also with the help of a specially shaped reflector with a single feed. The effective iterative method of synthesis of such antenna surface is presented. The potential possibilities of such antenna systems for shaping of the contour beams and their orientation in the space are discussed. Some numerical results on the synthesis of antennas with contour beams at Ku-band are presented.
