A procedure for determining the oxide phases in iron and its alloys by the method of reducing melting was elaborated. The temperatures of reduction start for Cu2O, FeO, MnO, Cr2O3, Al2O3, SiO2, and TiO2, the temperatures of maximum oxygen releasing were determined as well as the duration of oxygen releasing process. This allowed to define an oxide type in the alloys of complex composition. The dependences of above listed parameters on the physicochemical characteristics of oxides under study were constructed. Carbon effect on the oxygen content in Fe-C system containing up to 4.2%C was studied.
