The article reviews the climate policy of Latin American countries. It analyzes the place of the region in the global structure of greenhouse gas production, its dynamics from 1990 to 2018, as well as demonstrates the interconnection of the economic development of the region and the level of emissions. The main directions of climate policy of the LAC countries and the influence of political, social, and economic factors on the climate policy of the countries are investigated. The different forms and strategies of climate policy are implemented in the case of Bolivia and Ecuador. Moreover, the analysis of climate measures and the potential for conflict over ecological modernization is provided. In conclusion, the author's scheme of determining the level of climate policy of the major states in the region in accordance with their goals under the Paris Agreement (UN NDC) is presented.
