Anomalous physicochemical properties of polycrystalline BeO (powder and ceramic) were studied. The results demonstrate that foreign magnetic ions, phase transitions, and strong electric fields have a significant effect on the Be-9 spin-lattice relaxation time, lattice parameters of BeO, and carbon outdiffusion to the surface after Ar+ ion bombardment.
