A fast inexpensive analogue-to-digital converter has been designed for use in ioniziong radiation spectrometers with short shaping times. In individual cases, this ADC can code signals from timing filter amplifiers. The immediate reason for designing the ADC described is the lack of commercially available ADCs that could be used in conjunction with the SA-002 spectroscopy amplifier (Nucl. Instr. and Meth., submitted for publication) at a high input count rate. Input pulses may have peak times Tpeak≧150ns, conversion times Tconv≈1.3μs, conversion gain=4080 channels per 2.5 or 5.0V.
