Novel push-pull «D-π-A-D» and «D-π-A» systems based on quinazolines were synthesized via Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling. The tuning of photophysical characteristics of quinazoline derivatives was demonstrated by means of varying of electronic properties, bulk of the residues and its position in heterocyclic ring. The potential application of quinazolines as luminescent pH-sensors is presented. A synthesis of cyclometalated complexes of 2-(thiophen-2-yl)quinazoline derivatives has been developed. BF2 and BPh2 complexes based on quinazolin-4(3 H )-ones have been successfully synthesized. Correlations between their structure and photophysical properties have been shown.
