A Sorben-Tec system was developed for rapid dosimetric detection of 137Cs and 222Rn in drinking water using a domestic dosimeter orbeta radiometer as a measuring equipment. Linear calibration curves were obtained for dosimetric and beta radiometric measurementof 137Cs. Detection limits of 137Cs in 20L water samples were found to be 12.3 and 2.0 Bq/L for dosimetry and radiometry respectively.Detection limits of 222Rn in 5Lwater samples were found to be 35 - 40 and 10 Bq/L for dosimetry and radiometry respectively that isquite enough for detection water unsuitable for drinking purposes. It was shown that this simple system can be used by population indomestic conditions as an express test of water suitability for drinking. The test is low cost and fast; time of analysis is approximatelyone hour.
