Copper selenide belongs to superionic conductors with mixed ionic-electronic conductivity and has a wide range of homogeneity. A number of features of the Cu-Se system, namely: the presence of a phase transformation in the Cu2Se compound, a high diffusion rate of Cu ions, a deviation from stoichiometry, and a high Se vapor pressure at elevated temperatures make it relevant to carry out a complex of experimental studies to develop and optimize the methodology for obtaining a bulk material based on copper selenide. This work is aimed at studying the deformation behavior under compression of Cu1.8Se single crystals at room temperature.
