On the example of Soviet films on the 1930s, the characteristics of the military men as important characters of the Stalinist cinema and the directions of their evolution are analyzed. It is alleged, that accentuated positive images of military men presented in the films of various genres, have played an important role in dharing the Soviet defense consciousness on the eve of the war and mobilized to defeat the enemy after the outbreak of hostilities.
