The author describes the evolution and surveys main topics of anthropological problematique as it developed in medieval Russia (from the 11th to the 17th century). The lecture focuses on the texts that discuss spiritual perfection and education in accord with the Christian ideals. The views on the meaning of human life in times of historical cataclysm such as e.g. the schism period, are analyzed.
