The article is devoted to review of features of «hunting narrative» in Russian literature in second half of 19 - first third of 20 centuries, studying of developments dynamics, genre and stylistic features of hunting stories. Object of analyses are works of S. T. Aksakov, I. S. Turgenev, F. A. Arsenyev, E. E. Dryansky, D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak (19th century) A. I. Kuprin, I. A. Bunin, A. P. Chapygin, M. M. Prishvin, A. N. Tolstoy (20th century). Attracted literary context is associated with the development of hunting theme in the so-called mass literature, as well as with a practical applied functions of hunting narratives. The result of work is the identification of the typology, which reflects features of considered narratives
