The article considers the origins of the artistic technique of depicting a face hidden by a veil in works of Persian miniature painting of the classical period. The traditionalist approach to the analysis in the study allows to interpret this technique as the embodiment of the meaning-forming concept of «hidden - revealed» rooted in the sacred texts of the Islamic tradition.
