This research work is devoted to the study and solution of the problem of reducing the wall thickness variations of small-radius elbows. Wall thickness variation of elbows is the result of inhomogeneous stress-strain state over the cross section of the workpiece during its hot closed-die forging. In order to solve the problem of reducing the wall thickness variation of the elbows, finite element modeling package Q-Form was used. With the use of Q-Form package, possible technical solutions of the problem were tested and compared with each other by the example of closed-die forging of small-radius elbow Ø76 mm from 08Kh18N10T stainless steel. The simulation results were compared with the results of closed-die forging under production environment.
