The article describes the life of Nikodim Pavlovich Kondakov in Yalta in the winter of 1917-1918. This research is based on the analysis of the document from the Russian State Historical Archive (St.Petersburg) - Kondakov's letter to Boris Farmakovsky, in which he describes the military actions between the Black Sea Fleet and the forces of the Whites in January 1918 along with some details of his private life and scientific work. We believe that the events of January 1917 affected Nikodim Kondakov's decision to emigrate from Russia.
