The study deals with the productive and unique period of the history of the “Orenburg Provincial Gazette”, when, at the time of the changes in the editorial policy, experts-orientalists and bibliographers were invited to cooperate with the editor, and the provincial newspaper turned into a real scientifi c publication. Author performs a comprehensive analysis and defi nes a place of editorial policy’s relevance. The consequences for the domestic literature, science and the fate of the newspaper staff are described.
