The paper analyses the narrative of I.Ya. Postovsky and the start of industrial production of sulfapyridine at the Sverdlovsk chemical plant in the central and regional historiographical traditions. The author concludes that there exist certain gap between the regional (Ural) and central (Moscow) vision of the history of the Soviet home front and the contribution of Soviet scientists into the achievement of victory over Hitler.
