The article deals with the analysis of the legal regulation of the state (municipal) contract change in connection with the need for additional construction work. It is concluded that there is some discrepancy between the law and their interpretation, on the one hand, and the essence of the building contract and the principles of the contract system, on the other hand. The proposals to improve the legislation and its application are given.
