The article examines linguistic data correlated with the traditional crafts of the population of the European North of Russia. The etymological interpretation of lexemes is carried out: the languages of the peoples of the European North of Russia, which served as sources of borrowing, are identified. According to the results of linguistic analysis, the technologies used by the Northern Russian and Finno-Ugric (Baltic-Finnish, Volga-Finnish, Sami, Perm) fishermen in the creation of inventory for crafts are identified, techniques for carrying out fishing activities are determined. The fishing traditions characteristic of the studied region are described. The names of fishing vessels are revealed: lexical designations of vessels are interpreted with a focus on the peculiarities of manufacturing techniques and the specifics of the use of boats and bots. When describing the device of boats, lexemes of Finno-Ugric origin, denoting the keel and details (hull ribs, flooring) of the inner frame of the boat, are singled out. In the study of fishing tackle nominations, the objects of fishing that correspond to both the Baltic-Finnish and Sami traditions are identified. Various types of fishing nets, traps and their parts are described. The origin of lexical names is etymologically interpreted. The information extracted from lexical data about the hunting industry, which is passive in its type, is given. The features of the hunting activity inventory (types of traps, harnesses, hunting pits) are considered. The names of the items of equipment (various types of skis and gear) of the hunter are etymologically interpreted. Ethnographic and folklore data significant for commercial activity are indicated.
