Universities are introducing modern digital technologies into the educational process in the changing conditions of digitalization of the society. Teachers create e-learning courses for organising the educational process in various disciplines at Ural Federal University. This study demonstrates the possibility of linguistic learning using electronic educational courses accounting the requirements to the formation of foreign language communicative competence. The purpose of this research is to determine the structural features of the content of the electronic educational courses for the development of the foreign language communicative competence of linguistic students at the university. The article defines the components of the foreign language communicative competence, presents the requirements for the creation of electronic educational courses at Ural Federal University, describes the types of sections and practices in the electronic educational course on the discipline "Practice of oral and written speech", forming various components of the foreign language communicative competence and demonstrates the results of surveys of teachers and students that show the satisfaction of participants of the learning process with the electronic educational course for the development of the foreign language communicative competence within the discipline "Practice of Oral and Written Speech" of the educational programme "Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages" at Ural Federal University.
