This article focuses on cognitive and discourse sets as a specific type of complex paradigms of linguistic and speech units taking part in the representation of the mental essence of concepts. Such sets are considered in the aspect of their classifying function and role in the process of categorising the world on the one hand, and from the point of view of their function of interpretation and the role the components of such sets play in the process of conceptualising the world, on the other.
