The functional aspect of expressiveness language category is researched, its semantic and formal structure is analyzed. The possibility of studying expressiveness as a functional-semantic category is substantiated, expressive meaning variants are determined that compose the semantic dominant of this category. The functional-semantic field of language and speech grammatical expressiveness is constructed by the material of H. Fielding’s English-language novel “Bridget Jones’s Diary” analysis.
