"This year is 100 years of the October revolution - the greatest political incident of XX century, which provoked such unique phenomenon as “Russian immigration” and “Russian abroad”. Immigration is always a topic for hot discussions. During different periods, attitude to immigrants was various: some people consider them to be betrayers; some meet them calmly or even encourage them. Russian immigration unites a couple of waves fitted in one hundred and fifty years. Each of these waves strongly influenced on Russian development history. About distinctive features and behavioral paradigms of different immigration waves’ representatives we talked to Alexey Antoshin, Doctor of History and Professor of the department of oriental studies of Ural Federal University. He has been studying Russian immigration for a long time. His works appeal to different periods of Russian abroad history. According to Antoshin’s opinion the issue of immigration waves’ number is opened because the most part of researchers forget about pre-revolutionary immigration. Meanwhile in the end of XIX - the beginning of XX centuries about a million people left Russia. These immigrants managed to integrate successively in a new society, a lot of them have become well-to-do and famous people. Concerning the other waves, the post-revolutionary one is considered to be the brightest, so called “white immigration”, and the most mass is a wave as a consequence of the Second World War."
