Purpose. To analyze social well-being of citizens studying in military training centers (MTC), their motives for selecting the educational institution, to make a conclusion about efficiency of the military training center operating as part of a civil university structure as a new form of regular officers training. Methodology and Methods: The methodology is based on the principles of sociological approach. Methods such as analysis, synthesis, sociological survey and document analysis have been used in the research. Results: indicators of social well-being of citizens studying in MTC programs, main differences between them and cadets of military high schools are identified, citizens’ perceptions of their social status, motives and reasons for the choice are revealed. Conclusion is made about problems associated with institutionalization of military training centers as a modernized form of regular officers training, about their «incorporation» into the civil university structure and about slow adaptation of students in MTC. Scope of application: the research results can be used for educational process organization in MTC, their further institutionalization in the structure of civil university. Scientific novelty: Social well-being of citizens studying in MTC programs is assessed on the basis of a system of indicators of well-being of various aspects of their educational activities. It is concluded that in military training centers of civil universities, on the one hand, a new social community of students is gradually formed, on the other hand, the level of social well-being of citizens studying in MTC programs is for the time being reducing marginal position between the students of civil universities studying in reserve officer training programs (students of military departments) and not studying in military departments (departments of military training) - «common» students - as well as cadets studying at military academies of the country.
